Domestic Abuse & Domestic Violence Counselling in Swansea and Online

Experiencing domestic abuse or domestic violence can leave you isolated, confused, frightened, questioning your own reality — and whether it's happening now or it's something from your past, therapy can give you a safe, confidential space where what happened to you is heard, believed, and never judged.

As an integrative counsellor in Swansea, I offer specialist support for people affected by domestic abuse and domestic violence, in person or online anywhere in the UK. It is not my role to tell you what to do, or push you into decisions before you’re ready. I meet you exactly where you are, and I help you understand your own experience and rebuild your sense of safety, confidence and control.

Domestic Abuse Isn't Always Physical

People associate domestic abuse with physical violence, but abuse takes so many forms — emotional manipulation, coercive control, gaslighting, intimidation, financial abuse, sexual abuse, threats, isolation from the people you love, repeated behaviour that leaves you powerless or afraid.

A lot of people don’t even recognise what they’re living through as abuse until much later, and you might wonder if you’re “overreacting,” or minimise what happened, or catch yourself making excuses for someone else’s behaviour — these responses are completely common, and you don’t need to have it all figured out before you come to therapy. This space lets you explore things at your own pace, no pressure, no expectations.

Support Without Judgement

One of the biggest myths about domestic abuse counselling is that it’s about talking someone into leaving.

It isn’t, and that will never be my role. Every relationship is different, every set of circumstances is different, and there might be practical, financial, emotional, cultural, family or safety reasons why leaving isn’t possible, or isn’t something you’re ready for — and that’s completely okay.

My role is to support you wherever you actually are. Whether you’re trying to make sense of what’s happening, coping with the emotional weight of it, rebuilding after leaving, or processing something from years back, therapy gives you a compassionate space where your choices are respected, no exceptions. You are the expert on your own life. I’m here to walk alongside you, help you find clarity, reconnect with your own voice, and make the decisions that are actually right for you.

My Integrative Approach

I tailor therapy to you, not to a single model. My work is rooted in person-centred counselling — empathy, acceptance, real understanding — and alongside that, I might draw on creative approaches, psychoeducation, CBT, existential therapy, whatever actually serves your goals.

Recovery from abuse is rarely straightforward, and it’s not about “getting over it” or moving on quickly. It’s about building a relationship where you feel safe enough to explore what happened, reconnect with yourself, and slowly get back your sense of choice and power.

Begin at Your Own Pace

Reaching out after domestic abuse can feel enormous, but you don't have to do it alone. If you're looking for domestic abuse counselling in Swansea, or online therapy anywhere in the UK, I'm here to offer a confidential, supportive space where you can explore everything safely, at whatever pace feels right.

Whatever your circumstances, you deserve to be heard, supported, treated with dignity — and if you're ready to take that first step, I'd be honoured to walk it with you.
