Walk and Talk Counselling in Swansea

Not everyone feels comfortable sitting in a counselling room. For some people, walking side-by-side in nature can make difficult conversations feel more manageable, less intense, and more natural.

Walk and Talk Counselling combines the benefits of therapy with gentle movement and time spent outdoors. Sessions take place while walking at a comfortable pace in a suitable outdoor location in and around Swansea, allowing space for reflection, conversation, and connection with the natural world.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I tailor therapy to your individual needs, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches while creating a safe, collaborative and non-judgemental space for exploration.

Why choose Walk and Talk Therapy?

Research suggests that spending time in nature and engaging in physical movement can support emotional wellbeing, reduce stress, improve mood, and help regulate the nervous system.

Many clients find that walking while talking can:

  • Reduce the intensity of eye contact and make difficult conversations feel easier.
  • Support emotional regulation and reduce feelings of anxiety or overwhelm.
  • Encourage creativity, reflection and new perspectives.
  • Help those who find traditional counselling rooms restrictive or uncomfortable.
  • Feel less formal and more natural than sitting indoors.
  • Support mind-body connection and awareness.

Walk and Talk Counselling can be particularly helpful for people experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, life transitions, neurodivergence, trauma, or those who simply feel more comfortable moving than sitting still.

How do Walk and Talk sessions work?

Before beginning outdoor sessions, we will discuss practical considerations such as confidentiality, boundaries, weather conditions, accessibility requirements and suitable routes.

Sessions are held in agreed outdoor locations around Swansea and are conducted at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There is no expectation around distance or fitness level; this is therapy first and a walk second.

We can pause, sit, slow down or adapt the session whenever needed.

Your safety, comfort and confidentiality remain central to the work.

Is Walk and Talk Counselling Right For Me?

Walk and Talk Counselling may be a good fit if you:

  • Feel uncomfortable in traditional therapy rooms.
  • Think more clearly while moving.
  • Enjoy spending time outdoors or in nature.
  • Experience anxiety or restlessness when sitting still.
  • Are looking for a more informal therapeutic environment.
  • Want to incorporate movement and wellbeing into your therapeutic process.

Equally, there is no pressure to choose one format over another. Some clients prefer to combine indoor sessions, online counselling and Walk and Talk sessions depending on their needs and circumstances.
